In my practice, clay is one of my favorite mediums to work with. It's direct connection with the earth and the deep sensuality that comes with working with my hands as I push, pull, and shape is very satisifying. With this series of objects I wanted to take a shape and manipulate it to create objects for the home.
Using concrete slabs, pillars, and metal pipes as the inspiration for this project, I celebrate the rawness and imperfections by leaving seamlines and surface texture. The glaze application was sprayed for an inconsistent coat giving the tables an aged patina, while the lighting pieces have a clear glaze over the translucent porcelain to highlight the surface texture.
